Observed behavior

Progress is recorded at checkpoints and during parts of the chapter's normal flow. After a failure, the game returns the player to a recent checkpoint rather than the start of the chapter.

Safe troubleshooting

If progress appears missing, exit normally, check Steam Cloud status, and back up the complete save folder before changing files. File verification is not a substitute for a save backup.

What remains unconfirmed

The visual design of a checkpoint does not prove a particular function inside Playtime Co.'s fictional data network. That interpretation is omitted.

FAQ

Should I delete a save that will not load?
No. Keep the original and create a separate backup before any diagnostic change.
Does verifying game files restore saves?
No. Verification checks installed game files; preserve save data separately.
