The Memories Machine is the most complex code in Chapter 5 and the centerpiece of the Conditioning arc. Unlike other randomized codes where you decode environmental clues, this code is generated by completing gameplay segments. Each of the three Huggy Wuggy memory sequences deposits a chip into the Memories Machine, which then reveals two digits of your code. The memories are playable flashback sequences where you experience events from Huggy Wuggy's perspective, providing crucial lore about the Prototype and the Bigger Bodies experiments. The six-digit code is completely unique per save — no guide can give you the answer. Players must write down each pair of digits as they appear, because the display is brief and there is no way to recall them later.
How to Find
- 1Reach the Memories Machine room in the Conditioning area (googly-eyed machine with a locked door behind it)
- 2Complete Memory 1 — the machine displays the first 2 digits of your personal code
- 3Complete Memory 2 (includes the Red Smoke Valve puzzle) — the machine displays digits 3-4
- 4Complete Memory 3 (Conditioning department navigation) — the machine displays digits 5-6
- 5Write down each pair of digits immediately when shown — they display briefly
- 6Enter your complete 6-digit code into the Memories Machine door keypad
Troubleshooting
Do NOT look up a code online — this is 100% randomized per playthrough and unique to your save
Each memory completion gives you exactly 2 digits — write them down immediately
The digits are shown briefly on the Memories Machine display — if you missed them, there is no replay
If you missed a digit pair, try reloading your last checkpoint before that memory completion
Memory 2 contains the Red Smoke Valve puzzle (Triangle → Star → Circle → Hexagon) — this must be solved first
Memory 3 involves navigating the Conditioning department — follow the audio cues from Huggy
The Conductive Hand is required to interact with the memory chips — make sure it is equipped
If the door doesn't open after entering 6 digits, double-check that you wrote the digits in the correct order (Memory 1 = first two digits)
